Tras haberlo perdido todo, un joven pez llamado Chip, se va a vivir con su tía Perla a un exótico arrecife. Allí conoce al amor de su vida, Leti, una preciosa y encantadora pececilla. Sin embargo las cosas en el arrecife no están todo lo bien que pudieran estar ya que viven amenazados por Nerón, un tiburón matón. Éste no sólo tiene atormentados a todos los habitantes del lugar sino que además ha puesto sus ojos en Leti. Chip, junto con sus nuevos amigos, decide emprender una gran lucha para salvar al arrecife de la amenaza de Nerón e intentar conquistar el corazón de Leti.
